Akhiok Airport (IATA: AKK, ICAO: PAKH, FAA LID: AKK) is a state-owned public-use airport located one nautical mile (2 km) southwest of the central business district of Akhiok, a city in the Kodiak Island Borough of the U.S. state of Alaska.[1]
As per Federal Aviation Administration records, the airport had 1,220 passenger boardings (enplanements) in calendar year 2008,[2] 1,356 enplanements in 2009, and 1,209 in 2010.[3] It is included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems for 2011–2015, which categorized it as a general aviation facility (the commercial service category requires at least 2,500 enplanements per year).[4]
Scheduled passenger service was subsidized by the U.S. Department of Transportation via the Essential Air Service program until the end of March 2010, after which Servant Air began providing subsidy-free service.
