Gerald Edelman

Gerald Maurice Edelman (/ˈɛdəlmən/; 1 Julai 1929 - 17 Mei 2014) ialah ahli biologi Amerika Syarikat yang berkongsi Hadiah Nobel dalam Fisiologi atau Perubatan 1972 untuk bekerja dengan Rodney Robert Porter pada sistem imun.^[1] Penyelidikan Pemenang Hadiah Nobel Edelman berkenaan penemuan struktur molekul antibodi.^[2] Dalam temu bual, beliau berkata bahawa cara komponen sistem imun berkembang sepanjang hayat individu adalah sama dengan cara komponen otak berkembang dalam seumur hidup. Terdapat kesinambungan dengan cara ini di antara kerjanya pada sistem kekebalan tubuh, yang mana beliau memenangi Hadiah Nobel, dan kemudiannya bekerja dalam bidang neurosains dan falsafah fikiran.
