De Communistische Partij van Griekenland (Grieks: Κομμουνιστικό Κόμμα Ελλάδας, Kommounistiko Komma Elladas, afgekort tot KKE) is in 1918 opgericht als Socialistische Arbeiderspartij van Griekenland. Tijdens de Tweede Wereldoorlog speelde de partij een grote rol in het verzet tegen de nazi's. Toen Griekenland bevrijd was van de Duitsers nam de partij de wapens op tegen de nieuwe Griekse regering, die bestond uit ex-nazicollaborateurs. De communisten hadden het land rond 1946 bijna helemaal onder controle, maar de interventie door de Verenigde Staten en Groot-Brittannië maakte daar een einde aan. Na deze burgeroorlog was het land armer dan ooit en gingen de communisten ondergronds. In 1958 won de partij onder de naam Verenigd Democratisch Links de verkiezingen, maar de koning weigerde het resultaat te erkennen. Later steunde de partij de enkele progressieve kabinetten onder leiding van Giorgos Papandreou senior. Het kolonelsregime maakte een einde aan de progressieve regeringen en begon een heuse heksenjacht tegen links. Toen het kolonelsregime viel legaliseerde premier Konstantinos Karamanlis de KKE. De partij is voor uitreden uit de EU en de euro.
Bij de Griekse parlementsverkiezingen van mei 2012 behaalde de partij 8,5% van de stemmen en 26 zetels en bij de Griekse parlementsverkiezingen van juni 2012 4,5% van de stemmen en 12 zetels. De partij is een oppositiepartij in het parlement tijdens het kabinet-Samaras.
