James Roy Horner (d. 14 Ağustos 1953 – ö. 22 Haziran 2015) Amerikalı orkestra yazarı, orkestra şefi ve besteci. Titanik filmi ile beste ve müzik dalında iki adet Akademi Ödülü kazanmıştır. Bunun dışında 32 ödülü ve 33 ödül adaylığı vardır.[1]

Hayatı

Beş yaşında piyano ile çalışmaya başlamıştır. Daha sonra Londra'daki Royal College of Music'de eğitim görmüştür. 1970'li yıllarda Güney Kaliforniya Üniversitesi müzik bölümünden mezun olduktan sonra, Kaliforniya'ya geçmeden önce, yüksek lisans yapmak için Kaliforniya Üniversitesi'ne gitmiş ve müzik teorisini orada öğrenmiştir. Daha sonra Kaliforniya Üniversitesi'nde müzik kompozisyonu ve teorisi üzerine doktorasını tamamlamıştır.

James Horner 22 Haziran 2015'te, kendi tek kişilik uçağını kullanırken, ABD'nin Kaliforniya eyaletinde yaşadığı kaza nedeniyle 61 yaşında ölmüştür.[2]

2015 yapımı Son Şans ve 2016 yapımı Savaş Vadisi filmleri onun anısına yapılmıştır.
